The 5 Browns

“[F]ive pianos and 50 fingers add up to the biggest classical music sensation in years.” -- The New York Post

The 5 Browns – Desirae Brown, Deondra Brown, Stephen Beus, Gregory Brown, and Melody Brown– all attended The Juilliard School in New York, where they were joined by the Browns’ youngest brother Ryan (now retired from the stage). The quintet enjoyed its first wave of critical attention in February of 2002, when People magazine dubbed them the “Fab Five” and they were featured on Oprah and 60 Minutes. They have since performed at the greatest concert halls from Carnegie Hall to Beijing’s National Center for the Performing Arts to Hamburg’s Laeiszhalle, and with major U.S. orchestras such as National Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, and Chicago Symphony.

The 5 Browns’ eight albums have collectively spent over 30 weeks at #1 on the Billboard classical music charts. They are the subject of the award-winning documentary film The 5 Browns: Digging Through the Darkness, which was deemed a Critic’s Pick by The New York Times. The 5 Browns are exclusive Steinway Artists.

Edge of the World

The Edge of the World is inspired by the primitive concept of a flat Earth. What lies at the edge of everything? If we traveled to the edge, would we fall off? At the heart of this program is the cosmic tapestry of Nico Muhly’s The Edge of the World, along with “Fab Five” favorites such as The Planets (Holst), The Wizard of Oz, The Miraculous Mandarin (Bartok), and Danse Macabre (Saint-Saëns).
