BADI ASSAD

Badi Assad, the remarkable Brazilian artist, defies music genres with her voice, guitar, and percussion talents. She's known for singing while playing guitar and bass, using mouth percussion to create unique percussive sounds. Born in São Paulo, she pioneered the "one-woman-band" style, blending vocal percussion and body rhythms. After collaborating in "Mulheres de Hollanda," she gained recognition through albums like "Solo" and "Chameleon," despite facing focal dystonia. In 2020, she released "Around the World," and in 2021, she featured on Arooj Aftab's GRAMMY-winning "Vulture Prince." Her journey continued with "Ilha" in 2022, and is currently touring the world in support of this great catalogue of beloved and fresh Brazilian music.

ILHA: Badi Assad Presents Brazilian Guitar, Song, Movement & Stories

ILHA is a project that reflects on the possibility of structural shipwreck, as a globalized society, ILHA brings a dialogue between different generations about the choices in the construction of a new land, loaded with poetic reflections from a universal vision about the human being and its existential questions.

ILHA enters the context of music, but also the thoughts, feelings, belief in the human being and its discoveries. Seeking transformative ideas and urging the navigator listener to scour the human vastness and its nuances, exploring meaningful and connected issues with different angles of life.

ILHA sails with the right destination, which is the port of ideas. Living in a world where the result of the setbacks that beset us is evident, as if, as a society, we had lost the thread, Badi proposes a dive between yesterday and tomorrow.
